Story Behind The Music

I wanted to introduce you to some new talent, share a few stories behind the music and have a cover people would talk about. I picked this Picture for my cover because its two people in a red room. You can assume there having sex which would mean there are sounds in that room and If this blows up the girl In the picture with me will get some shine because everyone will want to know who she is (Shout out to the homie sheeba - Wink) hopefully the saying sex sells is true.

The first thing i had to do was pick songs and arrange them in a order i felt would flow right (shaking my head) this was the hardest thing i have ever done and after take 30 we have Sounds From The Red Room.

01. Hi, Im Jae

12 songs and a F*ck you was a promotional project I was putting together and this beat was sent to me for that project. When I heard this beat the first thing that came to mind was "wow". I started up Pro Tools, recorded and mixed the song after taking about 30 Minutes to write it then I sent it back to Gambitt. I felt like this would be a good way to introduce myself. He said lets see how fast you can get this track done and send it back. When the beat was done and he sent it to me the first thing that came to mind was a idea i had for a hook then i thought about this girl i met when my cousin Gloria went on a cruise and let me use her car. About 45 mins later this song was written, recorded, arranged, and mixed. 03. Fresher Then I Ever Been w/ Tabi Bonney and Rahsaan

This is the official un-official remix aka Tabi and Justin stole that rahs song (laughs)On a Tuesday night Big brother Rahs says to me "Tonight I'm thinking about performing a new song... Sneaker Store Terrorist. What you think?" I say nah, don't do it, go with the red light green light joint. I suggested he do that song because i wasn't really feeling the sneaker store joint like that. He does Sneaker store terrorist anyway and the crowed goes crazy. I told him in the car after the show he did good but that song is kinda light and blah blah. Months pass and talk about a remix comes up. By now I performed the song with him a few times and it grew on me. I suggest a few names to be on the remix such as Jay Fre$h Kicks, Wale, Mickey Factz, Tabi Bonney and Me. Rahs went to school with Tabi. Mickey and Rahs had a mixtape in the works. I knew Wale, JFK and i talked to Mickey on the regular so we was sure they would all get on the song and we was hype about putting this collab together. I asked them to record verses for the song. JFK was wit it but Wale wasn't. Mickey wouldn't reply to Rahs or me as far as i remember so we said forget him. Tabi Said he was down and asked Wale to be down again but he wasn't wit it he said he wasn't feeling the track like that. I Called Tabi one day when he had a show in NY to confirm he was going to be around. He said yea and after he was done at MTV we met up and went inside Sob's. After the show he got some food, we kicked it and just talked about music, working together and other random stuff. We hit up Katra for his friends Bday, had some drinks and then i went home to work on my verse and record it. Some time passes and the only people that had a verse recorded and ready to go for the song was Tabi and me. Rahs never did a new verse and the official remix never happened. My cousin and I went to a club in Jersey to celebrate Puff's bday. I was inspired to make a dope song after that but nothing i had felt right as far as beats went. One day a friend of mines, (Theo) gave a special shout out to two friends of his that were doing music and asked his followers to check them out. I was one of the friends he asked his followers to check out. I went to see who the other guy was so i can hear his music. When i seen the other persons picture i realized I knew him and his sister from high school. I reached out to him about this song he had called "one in a million". Theo did as well. He was taking forever to reply and I'm not a person that likes to wait so I started working on my own version before I even got the OK to do so. 09. Runnin w/ Joe Tann

I wrote this song in my living room a hour before i went to record it. I remember crying when i got to the second verse and the end of the 3rd. I practiced rapping it during my walk to record it and when i arrived we laid the track down. Villain was working with Joe Tann at the time and after he mixed down what we recorded he sent it to Joe and asked him to feature on it. I would say about four days later we had the song back. Joe said it was a good song, great concept and the beat was dope. When I released the song on the internet Villain became the man in our area. I left Sway and headed home. The night was cool, music was dope and I got to see this girl that I like. I had a chance to hang with her the other night but I didnt really connect the way i would have liked to because well,i just didnt...

2 girls that I bumped into on the train last week had showed up to party and Im glad they did. I had my eye on one the 1st night we met and before she left to head home she gave me her phone number. Im going to call her Saturday and see if we can set up something. I want to hang with her :)

I left downtown once the party was over. After my train ride I took the bus and when I got off i took a short walk towards home. During my walk in the rain that started to come down when I left the party I began to think about Brittney.

Brittney and I went to middle school together. When we met I was in 8th grade - she was in 7th. I really liked her. I wanted her to be mine off of looks alone and once we got to talk and hang out I fell in Love. At least thats what i seem to feel for her at that point and time in my life.

Brittney was the girlfriend of a close friend of mines during my 8th grade year. I never talked to her how I wanted to because she was in a relationship. The guy she was with got upset with me over something that wasnt true. A rumor started going around involving her and me, he believed it and we stopped being friends. I didnt talk to him for the rest of the school year. Brittney and I didnt speak either.

The summer time came and A few weeks before school started again A Friend of mines at the time (Josh) told me about a party his sister was going to and asked me if i wanted to come. I said yea and got ready to go.

We get to the party and guess who I bump into - yea you guessed it, ya moms!
Nah im playing - Brittany was there and I remember thinking daaaaaaamn, she look stupid good right now

check it - Im am not a dancer. I do more today the I did wen I was younger and Im saying that to say the whole time I was there I played the wall. I did not hit the dance floor once but it was ok because Brittney was with me. She didnt seem to mind that I wasnt dancing. She danced on me, she talked to me and that made my night fun.

We talked until the party was over and before we went our separate ways we exchanged phone numbers. She asked me to give her a call when I got home - I made that phone call and from that point we talked all the time.

When the school year started she was pretty much my girlfriend with out the tittle. We would skip school and hang out in my room until school let out. We actually did this everyday. Thank god for school metro cards because these days 2.25 will get in the way of chill time and she was swiping every morning to come see me..

Those days - what we would do and how she would make me feel comes back around every now and then and as I sit back and let my self go so i can fully lose myself in the moment to enjoy the replay of those times I ask myself if i should reach out and try to see her. I know people change but I dont believe people can lose a piece of themselves over the years. I feel like a setting, a song, a conversation or a look into a persons eyes can bring out a side that hasnt seen daylight in a while.

I know i can bring out the side of her that I really miss and wish I could see I just dont know when or how thats going to happen. :-/

the sun is coming up now. maybe the universe will read this and take what I just said as a request. I wouldnt mind bumping into and old friend on my Way to the store or something - hell, technology works to - facebook msg would be dope to (wink)

Hopefully I cant feel that feeling again. It's been awhile since I felt something like.

Making someone smile and brightening their day is one of the most generous things you can do. It has a ripple effect that touches the whole community; if you are nice to someone it is likely they will be nice to someone as well.

Why bother trying to make people smile?

Making someone smile touches the entire community. Try to think back to when someone did something that made you smile or brightened your day? Do you remember how it made you feel happy and less stressed? Do you remember how it allowed you to be more friendly with your workmates, friends and family? A simple smile or friendly gesture by that stranger had an effect on your whole world, even if only for a few hours. It rippled through the people in your life. Quite amazing when you think about it.

So we know that making someone smile can change the whole community. But what else can it do? Why else should we bother trying to make people smile? Well there are a lot of reasons actually.

Firstly, it makes you feel good about yourself. When you make someone happy you really feel like you have done something good. So making other people happy makes you happier. Secondly, it is healthy. If you smile at someone and make them smile you are actively causing chemicals to be released in to your body that battle stress and cause feelings of joy. This is good. Making other people smile benefits both yourself and others.

Why is it generous?

As I said before, making someone smile is one of the most generous things you can do. The reason for this is simple: when you smile at someone or brighten their day you give something of yourself. You are putting aside your own selfish needs and wants for a moment to make someone else feel good.

And this is extremely generous.

Think about a man opening the door for a lady. This practice is about manners generosity. You are doing something for someone because it helps them. It is a small act but it can change someone’s entire day. In fact, it might change someone’s entire perceptions! Imagine if the lady you opened the door for felt badly about men. She may have had a few bad experiences with men lately and decided that they were all jerks but you just opened the door for her. Now her mind might shift. It might not shift entirely but it might open up a little bit to the possibility that maybe there are some good men out there.

Making someone else smile or brightening their day is all about putting them before you. When you engage in this type or practice (and it is a practice) you also develop positive qualities in your mind like patience and kindness. But the main quality that you will develop is generosity. If you go out everyday and try to make the people around you smile you will develop the inner qualities of a very generous person. This is one of the most respectable and admirable qualities a person can posses."

Smh... I dont even know where to start with this girl. Lets see, I met her, she was cool, I heard her sing, I fell in L*ve. That about sums it up.

She was rehearsing with for a show and i was sitting in. She took a break and came to chat with me for a second. We talked briefly about whats been going on and what was missed on both sides due to lack of communication between the two of us. Its been a while since we seen each other face to face and we didnt even talk online during that time so, yea... there was a lot to catch up on. One of things she did that made my night was get her Ipod and let me hear her latest project.

I played 1/2 Past Seven all the way through then went back to a few songs that stuck out to me. Over all I feel like this is a dope project. Its creative, the concepts are cool and the songs are well put together. I was able to sit back and zone out. Visuals for some songs appeared as they played. I closed my eyes and enjoyed what i was seeing. Its like i had a video to go with what i was hearing and thats what i L*ve about some of my favorite songs. They allow me to really get lost in the track and thats what Cocoa was able to do with this project.

The production is on point and inspired me to even write a few joints. Who knows maybe i'll have something with Ms. Sarai in the future. That would be pretty cool to see her do a joint inspired by her written by me.

Take time out to get lost in her world for a second just as i did. Your not going to want anyone to find you during this journey. Trust me (Wink)

The Common Dandelion, is sometimes referred to by children as the wishing flower. The Dandelion is a herbaceous perennial plant of the family Asteraceae (Compositae). It can be found growing in temperate regions of the world, in lawns, on roadsides, on disturbed banks and shores of water ways, and other areas with moist soils.

Folklore has an interesting spin on determining whether or not you are loved. Instead of picking the petals off a daisy, try blowng the seeds off a dandelion globe. It's said that if you can blow all the seeds off with one blow, then you are loved with a passionate love. If some seeds remain, then your lover has reserveations about the relationship. If a lot of the seeds still remain on the globe, then you are not loved at all, or very little.

Folklore says that blowing on a dandelion (wishing flower) and making a wish will carry the seeds away, so that your wish will be granted!

High school senior James Tate wanted to impress his friend by asking her to their prom in Shelton, Conn., in a way the whole world would notice, The Connecticut Post reports. He went to the school in the middle of the night and taped foot-high pieces of cardboard on its entrance to spell out "Sonali Rodrigues, Will you go to prom with me? HMU Tate." HMU means "hit me up.

The good news: She said yes! The bad news? Tate is now banned from attending the prom because school officials say he was trespassing and risked his life by using a ladder to put up the romantic request.

"This is really upsetting,"
Rodrigues told the paper.
"It's our senior year and we are supposed to have happy memories, not something like this."

The mayor of Shelton himself is getting involved in their case. Mayor Mark Lauretti told a local Fox affiliate he doesn't think the "punishment fits the crime." And as the tale of Tate's predicament spread on national news sites, 30,000 people have joined the group "Let James Tate Go to the Prom" on Facebook in support of the potential prom date.

My man James did something to get what he wanted and displayed courage. Rather then punish him they should give him his props and let him know what he did was cool - say something like "Wow, you could have hurt yourself man. That was a dangerous way to ask but it was really sweet and Im glad your ok and she said yes" because I dont think punishing him proved any point. Q. Mr. Doss is in the house! Its good to have you hear man, Im a jump straight into it like this, Where are you from?

A. I’m not really FROM anywhere since my family is military, retired navy to b exact. But where have I lived the longest, and grew up the most? VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA. That's my home.

Q. Gotcha. So check it im a throw 3 at you real quick - you ready?

A. Lol. Yea man Lets go, what you got for me?

Q. Ok, check it - When did you start Rhyming? Why did you start? And where do you get your inspiration?

A. I started rhyming when I was nine years old living in New Orleans, Louisiana. I use to be a pretty hotheaded kid. Quick temper, quick to fight, just a real quick to get in trouble kid. I used writing as an outlet to try and stay out of trouble. Plus, it was fun so, kept going, and, here I am. My main inspiration comes from Eminem (all time favorite), Joe Budden, Royce Da’ 5’9, Lupe Fiasco, Jay-Z, Nas, J. Cole, Cory Gunz, artist like that. I like Wiz Khalifa (old Wiz), Currency for a more mellow laid back type of hip-hop. Kanye is another big inspiration for me. Basically, anyone that makes me think. Outside of Hip-Hop I listen to a lot of Bullet of my Valentine, Jason Mraz, Paramore, Neo-Soul, Smooth Jazz, and Rebelution.

Q. I relate you with you as far as the reason you write, I feel that 100% man. I think the best stuff thats out if the stuff people put there self into - the personal stuff you know the stuff thats inspired by things like trying to stay out of trouble for instance thats some real stuff especially for a street person. Thinking about The streets and being out there and the possible trouble or even thinking of situations that can end up in a person losing there life is inspiration enough to create something that can touch people all over the world. Im glad thats a reason you do it man, thats what i like to hear. so uhmm, Where did you get your name?

A. Basically I started out as Lil Shell back when I was 9 years old and my name changed at least 1,000,000 times since then. I went from Lil Shell, DJ Insanity, Big Shell, to Baby Twista just to name a few. After I met my homeboy Crisis, he gave me the name DON for the last 3 letters of my name (Sheldon). After I did some research on the name DON and how many rappers call themselves that, I decided that I needed to add something to it. I was writing a song and I said something along the lines of "Imma money staking cake loving mother f*****g Greenfeen" and...It kind of stuck. So, I was Don the Greenfeen. Don got dropped for I don’t know why, and here we are today as Greenfeen.

Q. Word, so Greenfeen means cake lover huh? I like me some cake to man but Im trying to stay away from it. The summer is coming up so im trying to keep it tight for the ladies.

A. Lol. You stupid. I was actually going to change my name to "Shellz" early last year because Greenfeen sounds like pothead or money addict. A lot of people already associate my music with “Greenfeen” so I couldn’t change it. But no that’s not what it means. lol you a fool Jae for real man

Q. Im just syaing. So break it down for me and people that might hear your name and think "Pothead, Money addict" or go hmmm, This guy really like his cake.haha

A. lol ok, Green means harmony, fertility, growth, freshness, and things like that. Basically like a breath of fresh air. When you think of GO GREEN ads, you think of changes to make the planet fresher, ways to make it more livable. This is what I want to do for the Hip-Hop culture in essence. Be that growth, that harmony, that fresh air for Hip-Hop to bring it back to life

Feen- That's self explanatory really. When you Feen for something, you do whatever it takes to get it. Like if a crack head wants some crack, oh he goin' get that crack. Lol. Music is my passion, and I will not stop till I become the man I want to be with Music

Q. I see you bruh bruh - Going all deep on them - Thats Dope, I like that. So aside from music, what are some other things you are into?

A. Well I am a student at Hampton University, freshman to be exact, and a business management major. I’m on the drumline and pledged my section Fall '10 #4 S.T.I.C.K.Y Situation. Imma pretty chill guy though for real. I can’t dance but I like to dance lol. Can’t sing, but I like to sing. In my free time, which is rare, you can find me on my PS3 a lot. I mean, outside music, like I said, imma chill, laid back, let’s talk about nothing kind of person. Get to know me, probably the nicest person you will meet.

Q. What inspired this project?

A. Basically I was working on a project titled "Green Eye 3: The Resurrection" which is still in the works, and I thought it would be a good idea to drop a short tape to get people listening again. That tape originally was titled "Green Eye: The Singles" and was going to feature all the singles that I dropped. After sitting down and thinking about it, I didn’t like the title or idea anymore. So I was recording "Imma Walkin' Hazard" and was going to drop it as a single, and when I went back and listened to it, I noticed I said "Why Am I Not Famous....lets be real" and It made me laugh. So, after thinking bout it, I came up with the name "Why Am I Not Famous". And if you notice, I take some beats from bullshit artist, and some beats from great artist, and do something to them to show that even though I’m only 19, and even though I don’t have the exposure like them, doesn't that I can’t stand toe to toe with anyone on a mic. And with that being said, the damnit "Why Am I Not Famous"

Q. How Have people reacted to the material on "Why Am I Not Famous?"

A. People are shocked really lol. Especially people who see me around campus or people who have known me for a while. I’m receiving a lot...and I mean A LOT of love from this project. DJ's are asking about me, people are asking who I am, people are asking "Why Are You NOT famous" It has a lot of replay ability and already after not even a week of being released, my biggest achievement as an artist. This is definitely a start for a career.

Q. Why should people check you out?

A. Because I’m your favorite rappers worst nightmare. I have everything that you could want in an artist. I can give you anything and everything you could want to hear. I have songs to make you dance, songs to make you go “what the f*** did he say”, songs to make you cry, songs to do ANYTHING for you. I’m an all around artist basically. I’m still hella young. Who do you know that’s as young as me, spittin’ what I’m spittin’?? I still have so much growing to do as an artist, and anyone who enjoys pure lyrical, in your face, kind of bars, I am your man. A. Since I was in 5th grade. I actually hated it at first lol

A. - I was super tall in the 5th grade… I wanted to go into fashion and my dad hated the idea.. so he signed me up for a reck league.. lol.. I actually turned out to be good

Late last week, the unthinkable happened.
I decided to share all my shine with other people!
Iv'e invited a few artist to share the spotlight with and for the next few weeks I will be posting interviews.
Back in December I started to take time out to see who's doing anything with music these days and give them a ear (My ear) when Bucky Malone dropped songs I happened to be online at the time and decided to give him a listen. Afterwards, I thought hmmm, this kid has something. Despite being from opposing camps, Buck and Myself have been surprisingly cordial to one another. I respect him for making music worth listening to. With the underground hip-hop community in a frenzy, I decided to invite Buck to the Journal and ask a few questions about his self, share some contact info and a project he recently released

Well who the hell are you?

A. haha well i'm a man with many names but you can call me Buck or Bucky Malone

Where did the name Bucky Malone come from?

well i didn't wanna try to do to much for a name like i wanted it to be related to me as a person and growing up being a hot head and jumping out there alot thats how i came up with buck plus my great grandfather name was buck and i came up with bucky malone from bugsy malone he was a gangster in the 40's his name influenced my alias because he was a mobster and i'm a hip-hop mobster cause i make hits you feel me "laughs"

Yea. I dig Bruh bruh. So Where you from?

A. I was born in arlington virginia spent time in baileys crossroads and seat pleasent maryland but i would say baileys crossroads is my home since i lived there the longest

So How long you been rapping?

A. Hmm.. since i was about eleven but i actually didnt start recording songs until i was about thirteen or fourteen

What inspired you to rap?

A. Being a strong fan of music. I mean my mom and grandma were music heads so they listened to everything from soul music to rap. I wanted to one day contribute and share my own music with people and thats what im doing now. I have a few songs done and ready to go. Its time to get them out to the world

Nice. Ok Buck, what is the first song you recorded?

A. uhh..i wanna say this freestyle over the reppin time instrumental i had a cold it sounded horrible "laughs"

So what was peoples first reaction to your music?

A. At first people were like he's ok..and left it at that..some people just said i suck flatout but "laughs" those same people and more are still here, watching and checking for me so thats a plus. they got a chance to see me grow as an artist

who do you think influences you the most music wise?

A. i'm a huge 2pac fan..not just his music but just his whole life was fascinating..and i'm a big bone thugz n harmony fan too.. a lot of west coast artist influenced me honestly because they brought more harmony into the mix no shot at the east cause i'm from here "laughs"

Have people ever compared you to anyone?

A. yes sadly...all the time..people say i sound like fabolous mixed with drake..i've heard wiz name pop up a few times just because of the content i think..i mean its cool to have people say i remind them of big names like that but i'm me.

If you could get signed to any label what label would it be?

A. i would say Star Trak because they're from virginia and they bring a different sound to the table

As a young up and coming artist what are some things you are trying to learn?

A. I mean young or old you can always learn a thing or to cause at the end of the day its a business..but i'm just trying to learn how to network you know and just becoming buisness smart all around.

Story Behind The Music

This is the project that's suppose to make everything Better for me in life. This my official knock on that door in front of your heart. hopefully you let me in. Now, a little behind the music shall we. The original tittle for this was sounds from the room because i recorded all of these songs in my room. All lyrics came from my heart so i combined the two. Heart / room and wah lah you have Red Room. When i think of red i think love, i think fear, i think warning, i think death. I even think kool aid (Laughs)

I have a red light and i recorded in a red room a few times so red room just felt like the perfect way to go ya know. The word sounds represents the beats, the vocals,
the sex noises, the laughing, the everything that was heard by my neighbors and written about by me during the process of recording these songs.

I wanted to introduce you to some new talent, share a few stories behind the music and have a cover people would talk about. I picked this Picture for my cover because its two people in a red room. You can assume there having sex which would mean there are sounds in that room and If this blows up the girl In the picture with me will get some shine because everyone will want to know who she is (Shout out to the homie sheeba - Wink) hopefully the saying sex sells is true.

The first thing i had to do was pick songs and arrange them in a order i felt would flow right (shaking my head) this was the hardest thing i have ever done and after take 30 we have Sounds From The Red Room.
